See a timed schedule of public transit to get you from point A to B as fast as possible
1. type in maps.google.com
2. a page appears displaying a map of the US
3. in the search box, type in your address as an origin point, include the street address and zip (or city and state if you don’t know the zip)
4. click “Search Maps” or press enter
5. your location will be displayed
Change the type of map display that is show
--->click “Satellite” to view a satellite picture
------>click “Terrain” for a simple map with fewer side streets displayed
--------->click “Map”, for a typical street map
To navigate around the map
Click hold and drag your mouse anywhere on the map
Click the + to zoom in or – to zoom out on the left of the map
Click on any of the four arrows in the circle to move the map
Drag the man above the – to the street for Google’s street view
Click the up and down arrows on the round perspective controller, top left of the map to change the maps perspective, left and right arrows move side to side
Click on the X on the top right of the street view window to close it
Save your location to your saved locations (note. You must be logged into your google account)
1. once the address appears with a dialog box pointing to the location
2. click “save to my maps”
3. it will ask which map to save it too (you can create different maps of different locales you might frequent)
4. click save
5. on the left, click done
Find a service/business or landmark
1. in the search box, type in the name of what you are looking for
2. click “Search Map” or press enter
3. your results will be displayed (keep in mind only business with an internet presence will be displayed)
4. on the left of the screen will be a list of the search results that correspond to the appropriate letter on the map
5. click the name for more information or to see it on the map
***see below to get directions to this location or save it as explained above for future reference
Get driving or public transit directions
1. type in the address or the name of the place you want to go to in the search box
2. click “Search Maps” or press enter
3. click “to here” to begin the directions
4. a box asking for your starting address will appear
5. type in where you will be starting from
6. click go
7. the turn by turn directions will be displayed on the left with a map on the right
FOR PUBLIC TRANSIT click the link below the addresses on the left
You can PRINT or send the directions to someone as an EMAIL by clicking the correct link on the top right of the map.
