Mac Class notes for 8-16-11

Saving a word processing file in a universal format, like an rtf (Rick text Format)

1.    Click "file"
2.    Choose "save as"
3.    Besides Format or Save As, click and choose "Rich Text Format - .rtf)
4.    Name the file you are saving
5.    Click "Save"

If you are having trouble opening files created in a newer version of Microsoft Word or Excel (that have the extension .docx or .xlsx)

1.    Go to Google
2.    Type in "Microsoft Office Compatilibity Pack Mac"
3.    Click Search
4.    In the results look for the file that originates from Microsoft (in the abstract you will see www.microsoft.com/…..)
5.    Click the link and you should see the file that needs to be downloaded and INSTALLED


Having problems viewing photos on Macintosh Mail. When you open an email is do you only see an enlarged eye.
Move the photo to iPhoto
1.    Open the email
2.    Click hold and drag the photo down to the iPhoto icon on the dock (looks like a camera with a photo of a palm tree)
3.    The photo will be imported into iPhoto and after a few seconds iPhoto will open
4.    You can then make the needed changes and also send the photo as an email
