Picasa Photo Management and Editing Tool

Picasa – Photo Viewer, Photo Management, Photo Editing Tools

1.    Go to picasa.google.com

2.    Click Download Picasa

3.    Allow the download to complete

4.    Locate the downloaded file on the desktop or in the downloads folder in documents

5.    Once you find the file titled picasa, double click on it to start the installation

6.    Confirm and okay any messages and click agree, next, ok, click finish

7.    Choose to scan ONLY Documents, Pictures folder (NOT ENTIRE COMPUTER)

8.    For the screen that asks which files to associate with picasa, just click finish

Navigating in Picasa

On the left are folders and albums

On the right are the thumbnails/previews

*Enlarge/Edit a photo, double click the thumbnail

Delete a photo – Click on the photo and press Delete on the keyboard

Star/Favorite a Photo – choose the photo click the star below

Creating an Album to categorize/group photos from different folders

1.    Go to the "file" menu

2.    Choose "new album"

3.    Type in the new name of the album

4.    Click OK

Moving a photo to an album

1.    Click on the photo

2.    Click on the photo album on the bottom left and choose which album to add the photo to

Managing multiple photos

1.    Click on a photo to manage

2.    Click the green thumbtack on the bottom left

3.    Choose another photo to manage

4.    Click the green thumbtack again to add it to the group

5.    Continue as needed till all the items you want to manage are grouped in the tray on the bottom left

6.    Then either add the group to an album, print out the photos, share via email

***to clear the tray click the red circle***

 

Face Recognition

1.    Go to people on the left and click unnamed

2.    A list of faces will appear on the right

3.    Click the person's face and put a name in the box below it

4.    Press Enter or Return

5.    Picasa will then automatically start to look for photos with the same face and will group them
