Macintosh Notes for 7.21.15

Search for an application/document/contact in the computer
1. Use Spotlight Search [Top Right]
2. Type in part of the name of what you are searching for and choose the match from the list

Keep the Application Icon in the Dock for easy access in the future
1. Open the application
2. On the icon on the dock, Click and hold down
3. Choose Options->Keep in Dock

Use the Launchpad to view and access all the applications installed on the computer [locate the launchpad using spotlight. see above]

Use the App Store to download new applications/software free or paid to your computer.
Apple Menu->App Store
Click Top Charts on the top and choose the category on the right
To download and install the application
1. Click Get (free) or the Price
2. Click Install App
3. Go to the launch pad to find the new application

Click on the first (unpaid) result which should be iobit.com 4. Click the link “download now” 5. The page will change click in the middle “download majorgeeks” 6. Backup Quicken to a Flash Drive 1. Insert the flash drive into the computer 2. Wait for the computer to detect the drive (a window displaying the contents of the flash drive may open) – Drive is identified by the letter E: or F: etc. 3. Open Quicken 4. Go to the “file” menu and choose “backup” 5. A window displaying the path of where the backup will be saved will appear The path should be to the E: or identifying letter of the flash drive 6. If not…you need to direct quicken to where to save the backup 7. Click “browse” 8. Find and click on “my computer” 9.
