3/15/16 Macintosh Notes

When I delete an email from my iOS device it does not delete from my Macintosh Mail. Why Not?
Check how your Macintosh Mail is receiving email.
2 protocols/methods of receiving emails POP & IMAP
POP retrieves emails and SAVES THEM TO THE COMPUTER'S INBOX
IMAP SYNCS your INBOX (with other iOS devices) with the inbox on the mail server
View email account settings:
  1. Open Macintosh Mail
  2. Click Mail
  3. Choose Preferences
  4. Choose Accounts

Make changes to Macintosh Mail
  1. Open Macintosh Mail
  2. Click Mail
  3. Choose Preferences

General Tab - 
Change the noises your computer makes when receiving an email,
choose automatically send message later when there is an error connecting and sending an outgoing message, 
change where attachments are saved

Fonts and Colors-
Default message font size and style

Composing - 
Check for spelling errors before sending a message OR check for spelling errors while i type

Signatures - 
Automatically generate email closing based on the type of email you are sending i.e. formal, casual, none

Rules - 
automatic filtering of emails

Customize the toolbar on the email.
Hold control and click on the grey with the icon and choose customize toolbar

Click on the first (unpaid) result which should be iobit.com 4. Click the link “download now” 5. The page will change click in the middle “download majorgeeks” 6. Wait for the page to load and you will be prompted to save or run the file you are downloading 7. Click “save” if possible choose the desktop as the location where you want to save the file 8. Backup Quicken to a Flash Drive 1. Insert the flash drive into the computer 2. Wait for the computer to detect the drive (a window displaying the contents of the flash drive may open) – Drive is identified by the letter E: or F: etc. 3. Open Quicken 4. Go to the “file” menu and choose “backup” 5. A window displaying the path of where the backup will be saved will appear The path should be to the E: or identifying letter of the flash drive 6. If not…you need to direct quicken to where to save the backup 7. Click “browse” 8. Find and click on “my computer” 9.
