Backup your computer
Time Machine on an External Hard Drive [Desktop Drive, Notebook Drive, Flash Drive]
Open Time Machine
  1. Click the Apple Menu
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Choose Time Machine

External Storage Devices
Desktop Drive / larger storage for a lower cost / needs a power source
Notebook Drive / smaller in size / does not need a power source
Flash Drive / small capacity / reads and writes information quickly

Do I need to back my email?
Your email is automatically backed up in the cloud on your email providers servers/computers.

Why create a PDF?
Go paperless, take a snapshot of an order confirmation from the web and save it to the computer rather than print it.
It's universal so sending it to a PC or another user, they won't have problems opening it.
Not editable. Others can't alter your original.

  1. Go to file and print
  2. click PDF on the bottom left

Choose to Save the PDF to your computer
Email the PDF using Mac Mail
Store and Sync the PDF using iBooks with other iOS devices
Send the PDF as a text message with other iOS users using messages
