Do I need to update my device? NO

But if you have an iPad it is recommended as most of the new features have been created for the iPad

What do I need to do before upgrading to iOS 11?
Backup your device
   1.settings
   2.tap your name
   3.tap iCloud
   4.go to iCloud backup
   5.choose backup now after you turned on the backup (note you can turn it off after you've successfully upgraded your device)
Know your AppleID password

After the upgrade completes you might be asked to create a passcode if you don't have one. Choose not to create one!

  1. Open iBooks
  2. Tap featured on the bottom to access the store
  3. On the top right search type in "Apple iOS 11"
  4. Find the guide that matches your device
  5. Tap get

Backup Quicken to a Flash Drive 1. Insert the flash drive into the computer 2. Wait for the computer to detect the drive (a window displaying the contents of the flash drive may open) – Drive is identified by the letter E: or F: etc. 3. Open Quicken 4. Go to the “file” menu and choose “backup” 5. A window displaying the path of where the backup will be saved will appear The path should be to the E: or identifying letter of the flash drive 6.
