PC Notes 1-2-18

Backup your computer (2 Ways)

1. External Hard Drive with automatic backup software (1 time)

2. Cloud Backup (monthly fees)

Do not need to backup:

Emails – a copy resides on the providers server

Online Services – Banking, investing, shopping, etc.

Online Office Applications – Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, Apple's iCloud

Run your Malware check program

Recommend MalwareBytes

Run Updates

1. Run the windows update (search "update" in the bottom search bar) Remember the update may take a long time so don't expect to use the computer while updating and be patient.

2. Update your browser – Firefox (3 lines top right, help, about), Chrome (3 dots top right, help, about)

3. Look for updates for commonly used software under the help menu

Remember updates are NOT upgrades. Upgrades typically cost money and might not be necessary.
