Class Notes 8.21.18

  • A resident is printing to my printer how do I stop it.
    • Talk to the resident and advise them they are printing to the wrong printer.
    • Disconnect WiFi on your printer and hardwire it to your computer (turn off AirPrint, Bluetooth or Direct Printing)
      • Side Note: Turn off any Sharing on your Mac
System Preferences -> Sharing -> NO checkmarks
  • Emails not printing correctly
    • When using Webmail via Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc to access Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Aol, look for a printer icon on the top right of the email or for Outlook the three horizontal dots.
    • DO NOT USE File and then print or command + P
    • Printing a large photo in Macintosh Mail, Double Click on the photo to open the photo in Preview -> then print as needed (!Remember to change the scaling to reduce the size!)
  • Do I update?
    • If it's not visibly broken, don't fix it.
    • Wait a month and then go ahead.
    • Be careful not to UPGRADE which replaces your current software.
