Using Apple Wallet for Payments

  • Apple Wallet allows you to store credit cards and make purchases with tap-to-pay
  • To activate: Double-click the side button quickly, authenticate with Face ID/passcode
  • Works on both iPhones and Apple Watches (press button under crown twice)
  • For security, authentication is always required before payment can be processed
  • Check wallet settings in Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay
  • Apple Cash (peer-to-peer payment system) can be turned off if not needed
  • Transit cards like Clipper can be added, but the physical card will be deactivated

Managing Device Storage

  • Check storage in Settings > General > iPhone Storage
  • Always maintain at least 20% free space for optimal device performance
  • Storage view shows color-coded breakdown of what's using your space
  • Options for freeing up space:
    • Delete unused apps completely
    • "Offload" apps (preserves data but removes app until needed again)
    • Remove downloaded content after use
  • [ ] Check storage and remove/offload apps that are taking up too much space

Smart Shopping Features

  • Use camera search in shopping apps to find products by taking photos:
    • Google app: Tap camera icon in search bar
    • Amazon app: Camera icon in search bar
    • eBay app: Camera icon in search bar
  • AI technology identifies items in photos and finds similar products
  • Consider using Rakuten app for cashback on purchases
  • Always use the dedicated app rather than the website for better functionality

Saving Payment Information

  • Safari can save credit cards for easier checkout:
    • Go to Settings > Safari > Autofill
    • Enable "Credit Cards" option
    • Add or remove cards as needed
  • Saved cards will be available when shopping online
  • Apple Card information can be found by tapping the card number in Wallet

Downloading Content for Offline Use

  • Files: Press and hold file > "Keep Downloaded"
  • Music: Tap three dots > "Download"
  • Movies/TV shows: Hold down on content > "Download"
  • Maps: Can download specific areas for offline navigation
  • [ ] Remember to remove downloaded content after use to free up storage

Multitasking Tips

  • To switch between verification codes and shopping apps:
    • Swipe up from bottom and hold to see open apps
    • Tap to switch between them
  • Modern iOS often suggests verification codes automatically above keyboard

Email Security Use a reliable email service. *If you are on @comcast.net setup a secondary email address. And you can forward emails from @comcast.net to your new email while you slowly transition over to a more secure email provider. Getting too much Spam (Junk Mail) Unsubscribing doesn't usually work Use the SPAM/Junk filters Create your filters/rules ~If the above options don't help, setup a secondary email address and share the new address with friends and family while leaving the junk behind in the old email. My emails have been hacked! What do I do? Notify all your contacts, friends and family to ignore the recent email and NOT send you money or respond to the email. This includes someone to send the message on your behalf.  Or create/use a secondary email to send a notification email to your friends/family group or distribution list NOT to send you money or respond to the email. (Be sure to put all the contacts in the BCC and send to groups of no mare than 50 contacts at a time) 1.
