Finding Content on Streaming Platforms

  • Finding purchased content on streaming services can be challenging compared to traditional libraries like Hoopla
  • Most streaming platforms have a "My Stuff" or "My List" section to find purchased or saved content
    • On Amazon, look for the "My Stuff" section
    • On Netflix, saved content appears in "My List"
  • Content libraries can be managed across devices (easier to browse and add on computer/phone, then watch on TV)
  • Search functions are available on all platforms to locate specific content
  • Voice search is available on newer streaming devices - look for microphone button on remote

Streaming Devices and Setup

  • Multiple options for streaming to your TV:
  • Newer streaming devices offer benefits:
    • Voice recognition capabilities
    • Faster performance
    • More responsive interfaces
  • Screen mirroring/casting options available to show content from phones/computers on TV
    • AirPlay for Apple devices
    • Android Cast for Android devices
    • Most modern TVs support some form of casting

Music Streaming Options

File Sharing Solutions

  • When email attachments are too large (typically over 20MB), alternative options include:
    • Breaking content into multiple smaller emails
    • Using WeTransfer (free for files up to 3GB)
    • Sharing cloud links (iCloud, Dropbox)
    • Uploading videos to YouTube as "unlisted" (visible only to those with the link)
  • WeTransfer allows temporary file sharing (files expire after 1-3 days)

Device Upgrade Considerations

  • When upgrading iPhone iOS with limited storage:
    • Options include forgetting about the upgrade, deleting content, or buying a new phone
    • Newer OS versions may perform worse on older devices due to higher resource demands
    • Consider if the upgrade is truly necessary for your needs

Email Security Use a reliable email service. *If you are on @comcast.net setup a secondary email address. And you can forward emails from @comcast.net to your new email while you slowly transition over to a more secure email provider. Getting too much Spam (Junk Mail) Unsubscribing doesn't usually work Use the SPAM/Junk filters Create your filters/rules ~If the above options don't help, setup a secondary email address and share the new address with friends and family while leaving the junk behind in the old email. How to create a new email address? Go to gmail.com (Google), outlook.com (Microsoft) Choose Create Account, follow the prompts How do you access your emails? My emails have been hacked! What do I do? Notify all your contacts, friends and family to ignore the recent email and NOT send you money or respond to the email. This includes someone to send the message on your behalf.  Or create/use a secondary email to send a notification email to your friends/family group or distribution list NOT to send you money or respond to the email. (Be sure to put all the contacts in the BCC and send to groups of no mare than 50 contacts at a time) 1. Contact a Computer Tech to help cleanup and verify your email settings are properly configured, change your password and setup 2 factor authentication 2.
