iPhone File Management and Cloud Storage
Action Items

iPhone Files App and Cloud Storage
- Files app (blue icon) provides access to iCloud Drive and local storage
- iCloud Drive syncs only two folders from computer: Desktop and Documents
- Can create custom folders in iCloud Drive for organization (e.g., "bills" folder)
- When saving email attachments, can rename files to something meaningful before saving
- Files are listed chronologically by default (newest first), but can change sorting via three dots menu
Saving Email Attachments
- Download attachments from emails to avoid searching through inbox later
- Use downward arrow on attachment to choose save location
- Can save to Documents, Downloads, or custom iCloud Drive folders
- After saving attachment, can delete email to free up space
Offline Access
- Use "Keep downloaded" option (long press on file) to ensure files remain accessible without internet
- Helpful for travel situations like cruises or flights
- Downloaded files show arrow icon indicator
- Can remove "Keep downloaded" after no longer needed to save device space
Calendar Management
- Recommend using only one calendar to reduce confusion
- Multiple calendars can be turned on/off in Settings → Apps → Mail (for Google/Exchange calendars)
- For Apple iCloud calendar: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Calendar
- Check which calendar you're using by looking at event colors
- Set default calendar: Settings → Apps → Calendar → Default Calendar
Storage Checking
- Local device storage: Settings → General → iPhone Storage
- iCloud cloud storage: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud
- Note: Emails claiming "out of iCloud storage" are often fake/scams
Ticket and Document Management
- Save tickets to phone instead of printing
- Add to Wallet only works if attachment has "Add to Wallet" button (requires special verification)
