Action Items

  • [ ] Check local iPhone storage: Settings → General → iPhone Storage
  • [ ] Check iCloud storage: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud

iPhone Files App and Cloud Storage

  • Files app (blue icon) provides access to iCloud Drive and local storage
  • iCloud Drive syncs only two folders from computer: Desktop and Documents
  • Can create custom folders in iCloud Drive for organization (e.g., "bills" folder)
  • When saving email attachments, can rename files to something meaningful before saving
  • Files are listed chronologically by default (newest first), but can change sorting via three dots menu

Saving Email Attachments

  • Download attachments from emails to avoid searching through inbox later
  • Use downward arrow on attachment to choose save location
  • Can save to Documents, Downloads, or custom iCloud Drive folders
  • After saving attachment, can delete email to free up space

Offline Access

  • Use "Keep downloaded" option (long press on file) to ensure files remain accessible without internet
  • Helpful for travel situations like cruises or flights
  • Downloaded files show arrow icon indicator
  • Can remove "Keep downloaded" after no longer needed to save device space

Calendar Management

  • Recommend using only one calendar to reduce confusion
  • Multiple calendars can be turned on/off in Settings → Apps → Mail (for Google/Exchange calendars)
  • For Apple iCloud calendar: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Calendar
  • Check which calendar you're using by looking at event colors
  • Set default calendar: Settings → Apps → Calendar → Default Calendar

Storage Checking

Ticket and Document Management

  • Save tickets to phone instead of printing
  • Add to Wallet only works if attachment has "Add to Wallet" button (requires special verification)

Email Security Use a reliable email service. *If you are on @comcast.net setup a secondary email address. And you can forward emails from @comcast.net to your new email while you slowly transition over to a more secure email provider. Getting too much Spam (Junk Mail) Unsubscribing doesn't usually work Use the SPAM/Junk filters Create your filters/rules ~If the above options don't help, setup a secondary email address and share the new address with friends and family while leaving the junk behind in the old email. My emails have been hacked! What do I do? Notify all your contacts, friends and family to ignore the recent email and NOT send you money or respond to the email. This includes someone to send the message on your behalf.  Or create/use a secondary email to send a notification email to your friends/family group or distribution list NOT to send you money or respond to the email.
