Q & A Session
Font Management on Mac
- Use Font Book (accessible via Spotlight Search) to view all fonts available on the computer
- Microsoft Word and graphics programs show a cloud icon next to fonts that can be downloaded through the application
- When transferring to a new computer, copy the old font folder to preserve custom fonts and maintain proper formatting in existing documents
Special Characters and Symbols
- Access symbols through Edit → Emojis and Symbols, which displays all available symbols and fonts
- For quick access, type the desired symbol into Google, copy it, and paste it into the document
- Use online translators to input entire paragraphs or sentences in other languages (like Chinese) and paste the results
Changing Keyboard Input Sources
- Go to System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources to add keyboards for different languages (Chinese, French, Spanish, Hebrew, etc.)
- Each language keyboard shows different characters and accents appropriate for that language
- Toggle between keyboards using the menu bar indicator (shows language codes like US, FR) or the Fn/globe key on the keyboard
- On iPhone: Press and hold the globe icon on the keyboard to access keyboard settings and add/remove languages
- Remember to switch keyboards back to English to avoid typing errors in the wrong language
AI in Education Discussion
- Schools are addressing proper AI use with students through administration talks
- AI can be a beneficial teaching tool, especially for students who need extra help and don't have immediate access to tutors or parents
- AI is similar to historical study aids like Cliff Notes or online paper services—there will always be some students who misuse tools
- Google app camera feature can solve math problems by taking a picture of the equation and providing step-by-step instructions
- Teachers use AI detection tools to check typed essays, though some tools can make AI-written content undetectable
- Many teachers are returning to in-class handwritten assignments using blue books to prevent AI misuse
- Cursive writing and algebra are being reintroduced to San Francisco school curricula
File Saving Best Practices

- Set up favorites on the left sidebar to include Desktop and Documents folders for easy access
