Mac Notes for 3-2-10


 Setting a custom screensaver to display photos/images of your choice. (famous paintings, photographs of flowers/buildings/ice sculptures, family photos)
A screensaver displays when the computer has been idle for a specified amount of time.
--Setting up a folder to hold the images you want to display for the screen saver
1. go to the desktop
2. go to file and choose "new folder"
3. title the new folder, "images for my screensaver"
---Finding images to add to the newly created screensaver folder
1. Open the internet
2. Go to google and type in the type of image you want to find
3. Click google search
4. Click "images" on the top left
5. Find an image you want to keep
6. Click on the image--->click "full size image"
7. Hold "ctrl" and click on the image to open a menu of options
8. Choose save image as
9. Save the image to the desktop, if you like you can rename the file so you can identify it later
10. Repeat until you've found enough images
11. Close the internet browser to be returned to your desktop
12. locate the images you just saved and drag them to the folder you created titled "images for my screensaver"
----Setting up the screensaver
1. Go to the Apple menu
2. Choose "system preferences"
3. click "screensaver"
4. scroll down the list to "choose folder" ---> click it
5. locate and choose the folder you created on your desktop
6. change the amount of time that the computer must be idle before the screensaver plays
7. click options to setup up additional interactivity
8. Click test for a preview
9. close the window to keep your settings
10. DONE

Anytime you want to update the images that appear on your screensaver save the image and drag them to the folder on the desktop, AND if you want to remove a photo from the screensaver, open the folder on the desktop and drag the image you want to remove to the trash.

Listen to music on the computer with Pandora.com
1. open the internet and type in pandora.com on the top of your browser
2. type in your preferred artist or song and click find and pandora will play the song you choose while also playing related types/genres of songs
--Register to save your information and to return back to your station
**if pandora plays a song you don't like you can click thumbs down to cancel and disapprove of the choice
