Make a Copy(duplicate) of a file to be edited so the original is untouched (Macintosh)
- Find the file you want to duplicate/copy and edit
- Hold “option” on the keyboard
- Click hold and drag the file, using the mouse to a blank area of the same window (notice the green circle with the + indicating a copy will be made)
- Release the mouse
- Let go of “option” on the keyboard
- The duplicate file will appear in the same window with the #2 at the end of its name, indicating it to be the 2nd copy
- Double click on the file with the #2, or other #, to open the file and then begin to make your changes/edits
- Save
- Done
Each time you repeat the above steps for a duplicate file, the # will increase so you can identify the version/copy.
