Class notes for 12-21-10

Using your Address Book Application (looks like a book with an @ on it, on your dock, or in your Macintosh HD-> Applications Folder)

Add a contact to your address book
1.    Click the + symbol under the name column
2.    Fill in the name card fields on the right, be sure to separate the first and last name for organization purposes
3.    Fill in as much of the information as you want
*to add another field, like an email click on the red plus symbol to add a new field
4.    Click edit below when you are done

To make a change to a contact
1.    Click on the name of the contact
2.    Click edit below
3.    Change the information as needed

Once you have your address book contacts entered you can print out envelopes for a contact, labels, a large list and a smaller pocket address book
1.    to find these options, go to the print option
2.    choose what "type" of item you want to print
3.    Change the necessary format of the envelope or labels; or change what attributes you want to include with the list or pocket address book
4.    Load the appropriate paper media
5.    Click print

Exporting/transfer your yahoo email contacts into the Macintosh Address book
1.    Open yahoo
2.    Click on the Address book
3.    Click "tools"
4.    Choose export
5.    Choose the export button under yahoo csv:
6.    Type in the word that is displayed on the screen
7.    Click export
8.    Wait for the item to download
9.    Open the Address Book program on the computer
10.    Go to the file menu->choose import->text file
11.    Go to your desktop and choose the yahoo_ab file and click ok
12.    Follow the prompts to match the fields and click OK
13.    The items from your yahoo address book will appear in the address book
