Back to the Basics

Internet at the Towers and the Wifi upgrade that is happening in April 2012

Wifi will provided throughout the entire building for staff usage. The towers will extend the ability to connect to the internet for residents, for free.

What do I need?

Your computer must have Wifi capabilities. (Laptops, iPads, tablets, newer Macintosh computers, and all in one PC computers  have Wifi capabilities)

How can I check my computer if it has Wifi capabilities?

Mac -> go to the apple menu -> system preferences -> network and look for airport, which means you can connect using Wifi

PC -> go to the start menu or flag on the bottom left -> go to the control panel -> go to network icon -> look for Wifi

If I don't have Wifi on the computer what can I do?

Attach a Wifi antenna or contact Jason to setup an antenna for a packaged price

Simple explanation

The Towers is providing an Internet Wireless Signal your computer needs a receiver to connect to the Internet.

Emailing

Need a new email address?

*Try www.gmail.com, www.live.com, or www.yahoo.com, all of these are FREE.

Reply, Forward (pass it along), Reply to All (respond to all people in the original message)

*Sending an attachment

Fill out the email like normal, to, subject, message…then look for attach/attachment/or a paper clip -> from the window that appears go to one of two places where most files are saved to (desktop or documents) by click on the location on the left -> click on the title of the file you want to send -> click open -> you will return to your email -> click send

*Retrieve an attachment (look for a paper clip that is with the email)

Open the email and look for download/save/save as and follow the prompts

What if I get a website address sent to me and I can't click on it to open the site?

Copy and Paste the address

1)   Select the website address, click hold and drag over the entire address (don't let go of the button till you have what you want highlighted)

2)   Copy -> PC (Hold ctrl and tap C) Mac (Hold command/apple and tap C)

3)   Open your web browser (Safari, internet explorer, firefox, chrome)

4)   Replace the current http:// address with the new address

5)   Click on the http://

6)   Delete or backspace till the bar is cleared off

7)   Paste -> PC (Hold ctrl and tap V) Mac (Hold command/apple and tap V)

8)   Enter or Return to get the page to appears
