iPhone & iCloud Storage - Making Space and Saving Files

iPhone Storage Check your iPhone's storage capacity and usage. *If your storage is close to full in the future you might want to buy an iPhone with more internal storage. 1. Open Settings 2. Tap General 3. Tap iPhone Storage 4. Look at the bar graph Follow any suggestions given to save space, if needed. Below is a list of all the apps and the total storage used by each one including the related data. Turning on/off Offload Unused Apps - Any apps you haven't used within a month or more will be temporarily unloaded from you phone (notice the cloud beside the app name). When you tap on the app, it will download and be reinstalled for you to use. You don't loose any data related to the app but you might have to sign into the app again. This is useful if you've downloaded apps, don't use them and forget to remove them. 1. Open Settings -> scroll down to Apps 2. Go to the App Store 3. Storage iCloud Storage View your storage -> Apple Menu-> Settings-> Click your name-> click iCloud -> look at the bar graph Photo Sync - Takes up large majority of space to clear up space in photos, remove Duplicates and Movies - Open Photos and click on the left to choose the related category and make the necessary deletes or merge duplicates iCloud Drive/Files vs. Sync the Desktop & Documents Folders If Documents are the major category of storage and you don't want to waste Cloud storage space, move the files you want to keep but not sync to Downloads or the Home folder so they don't automatically sync but you still have a copy of them Clean up Browser Autofill Go to settings -> Search for Autofill-> remove old payment methods, addresses, etc. Password Managers **USE ONLY ONE password manager, Apple, Microsoft, Chrome/Google, etc. - usually depends on the browser you use most often Clean up your password list to ensure you have the correct password. But...turn OFF the Wifi on your mobile device (iOS pull down from the top right corner to reveal the Control Center and tap the Blue "fan") You can use your mobile device as a Hotspot and share the cellular internet connectivity with other devices, i.e. iPad, computer, laptop ...
