Macintosh Class Notes for 2-19-13

Files vs. Folders Folders organize and contain files. Create a new folder 1. Go to where you want the new folder (desktop, documents, or within another folder) 2. hold apple key (command) + shift and tap the letter "n" 3. Type in the name of the new folder that appears **to rename a file/folder** click on the icon wait 3 seconds and then click on the name Move a File to a Folder 1. Locate the file to move 2. Click hold and drag the file on top of the folder Use Spotlight to find files/folders in your computer using a keyword (remember spotlight will search the name of the file AND the contents within a file) 1. Click the magnifying glass on the top right 2. Type in a word or two that will help locate your file 3. Click "Show All" at the top of your list to see a window displaying the results of the search 4. If needed click view more under the documents heading 5. choose which file to move or open New way of storing files/emails LEAVE IT - there is plenty of space

To View/Open the File: Click on the item you want to view To Locate the File: Right click on the item and choose open in folder ----------- What to do about SPAM, Junk Mail, Solicitations! Best! Create a secondary email and only give that new email address to those you want to hear from. You can still check your old email inbox whenever you want Unsubscribe – found usually at the bottom of the emails in tiny tiny print Mark as Spam or Block Address Change your SPAM settings to be more aggressive and allow ONLY senders that are listed in your address book into your inbox -------- View recent episodes of TV shows like Downton Abbey Visit www.series-cravings.info (Only click the RED "Click Here to Watch" Link after choosing the show and episode you want to watch.                  Jas
